Keeping Your Wash Working Well: Tips and Tricks

Keeping Your Wash Working Well

Presentation, presentation, presentation. If I had only one tip for carwash owners and managers, it’s this—consider the impression your wash makes on your paying customer. If a nozzle is plugged, the customer will notice. If they see the machine jerking and snatching rather than moving in a smooth, fluid manner, they may not come back. Here are just a few of my tips to improve your presentation and avoid service issues and calls.

1. Whether you’re an owner-operator or a convenience store shift manager, run your vehicle through the wash in the morning before you open it to the public. Make sure it’s operating correctly.

2. If you receive a customer complaint, check it out yourself before you call for service. It may be a relatively simple fix, like a plugged nozzle.

3. Keep a small inventory of basic parts on hand. Generally, these should be the wear-and-tear items like nozzles, float switches and prox switches. These can be easily fixed by the operator or with the assistance of a technician over the phone.

As Mark VII service technicians, we see ourselves in partnership with our customers.

We take a personal interest in your business and want to see you succeed. Consider us a resource to draw on when issues arise.
